FROM THE CORNER
Still A Corkage Free Zone Mondays and Tuesdays!
That's right, we're still not charging you even a penny for the privilege of bringing your precious bottles to Nook on Mondays and Tuesdays. So bring them in and host your own wine dinner. We'll uncork them and provide a bouquet of stems (wine stems, that is). Shanks!
We've got an absolutely marvelous new pork shank for you to try that's just to die for. Try a braised Berkshire pork shank with braised cabbage, Israeli cous cous, and horseradish gremolata with a delicate juniper broth! This is one of our favorite new dishes in a while, and its getting accolades from food bloggers everywhere. We recommend it with a glass of Chardonnay. Pot Roast 4.0
Steve Jobs has been helping us develop a new Pot Roast App for the I-Pad, but it’s not ready to go yet. Since I know there are many of you who like to keep up on the comings and goings of our braised meat offerings, I thought I would let you know that we have a new version. This could be my favorite Pot Roast yet. We’re serving it with braised daikon, pickled mustard seeds and Bock Choy, giving it a uniquely Asian-esque flavor profile. Think of it as “Mom’s home cooking gets exotic.”
Support Hawaii: Try Our Latest Canned Beer Selection
If you don’t follow football, you may not know that after 29 years, the NFL decided to move the annual pro-bowl from Hawaii to Miami (laaaaame!). This was a huge blow both fiscally and emotionally to the island state. We urge you to support the Hawaiian economy by getting over here to try some Maui Brewing Coconut Porter. The subtle presence of toasted coconut unites the essence of chocolate and coffee, lending a splendid balance to this delicious beer. Maui Porter also qualifies for a free Nook Beer Koozie redemption, if you were saavy enough to acquire one.
Time To Get Happy
Did you know that California has a new wine appellation? Happy Canyon, located at the east end of the Santa Ynez Valley, became California’s newest wine AVA (American Viticultural Area) as of January 2010. The unique climate of this region makes it perfect for Bordeaux varietals, among others. To celebrate this newly christened wine appellation, we’ve got two great new wines from Happy Canyon for you to sample by the bottle. Fiddlehead Sauvignon Blanc drinks rich on the palate, with neutral oak and less citrus than your typical Sauv Blanc, making it a lovely midwinter white! Happy Canyon Vineyards “Piocho” is a Bordeaux-style blend that is full bodied and chewy, with notes of leather and cherry.
Hail To Da Mayor!
Congrats to Ori N, the current mayor of Nook on foursquare.com. In honor of his achievement, we’ll be giving him 20% off his bill each time he visits. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out foursquare.com, the website that lets you interact with your life like it was a web-based game, using a phone. We know and love Ori, but if you think you can unseat him, you could be the one to get 20% off at Nook. Sign up at foursquare.com and let the coup begin! |
