Ed Books TV Spot!
Congratulations to Nook server Ed Galvez who booked a TV commercial for the California State Lottery last month. Ed serves lunch at Nook Monday through Friday, which frees him up to perform and host at various comedy showcases around town in the evenings. He performs somewhere almost every night of the week. If you would like to catch his act, check out the schedule at www.edgalvez.net. Look for his commercial in English and Spanish starting September 13th.
Argentine Merlot Struggles to Restore Varietal's Once-Glorious Reputation.
Poor Merlot. Everyone loved it back in the nineties, didn't they? Then came "Sideways," and with just one one-liner ("if anyone orders Merlot I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any <expletive> Merlot!"), down it went, to be replaced by Pinot Noir. But wait, strolling in triumphantly like a Gaucho back from the Pampas is Fabre Montmayour Merlot Reserva. Hailing from the famous Mendoa region of Argentina, it's a Merlot that drinks with a disticntly Argentine sensibility. Still soft-shouldered but with nice tannins and a bit of trademark Mendoza leatheriness, this Merlot is sure to make you reconsider the grape you enjoyed for so many years before it got "sideswiped!"
Boot up at Nook!
We're currently featuring a brilliant local brew we think you should know about. Palomino American Pale Ale is a fine creation from Bootlegger's Brewery out of Fullerton, California. We highly recommend trying this elegant and delicately balanced, food friendly brew with almost anything on our menu as soon as possible. Nook Acquires 7% of Nation's Saphir Bock Supply! We know we've been talking a lot about beer lately, but we keep getting unique and special brews, and we just can't stop it. Schonramer's Saphir Bock pours a crystal clear sapphire-gold, teases you with its dryness on the palate, and finishes with a subtle sweetness. Think of Gwyneth Paltrow as a beer. It's exquisite, and thanks to our pal Mark Gerlach of Uplifter's Spirits, we have 7% of all the Schonramer Saphir Bock in the U.S. You've probably never tasted anything exactly like this before, and I highly recommend trying it even if you're not a beer lover. Get to Know Us Better! Want to find out about new menu items the very second we introduce them? Do you occasionally find yourself in the mood for special and spontaneous offers? Now you can hear the juicy Nook gossip before anyone else and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at your beloved neighborhood bistro! When you sign up to follow us on Facebook (Nook Bistro - Official Page) or Twitter (nook_bistro) you will receive special offers, and get to know us in ways you never thought possible. Join the Nook community today! "The Bear" rambles on! Nook legend, Mark Shabsis, aka "El Oso," is leaving us after two distinguished tours of duty in our kitchen. At the end of June, Mark will be moving to Seattle, home of grunge rock. Mark has the distinction of cooking at Nook from our very first day in business. After seeing us through our first two years, he departed for various other cooking experiences, and returned two years later to begin his second run. Thanks Mark, for being one of the most dedicated employees we've ever had, and for lending us so much of your talent. We wish you grand amounts of happiness and good fortune. Still A Corkage Free Zone Mondays and Tuesdays. That's right, we're still not charging you even a penny for the privilege of bringing your precious bottles to Nook on Mondays and Tuesdays. So bring them in and host your own wine dinner. We'll uncork them and provide a bouquet of stems (wine stems, that is). |
